Decided I’d upload Historie Volumes 1-4 from Kotonoha. I had mentioned something about it earlier and had some time… So here it is! Really fun story, great art, and deep characters!

Great story by great mangaka! I also really loved the Kiseijuu by him!
Hope someone will translate his other works :)
I completely agree that there needs to be more manga like that!

Good list Chrono, but FrankenFran does not belong with those others list, or Historie ;) Its good, but not that good!

Well none of them really ‘belong’ together or with Historie as they all approach from different genres. FrankenFran is more along the lines of a ‘Dark Humour’ look at traditional culture like xXx-holic is from a ‘Light Mystery’ standpoint.
So far Historie hasn’t fallen into Hitoshi’s normal way of writing, which is almost Shonen sometimes.

This is one of my favorite manga.
Only sad thing is that Kotonoha seems to be quitting scanlating.
So if they are, someone needs to pick this up.

There doesn’t appear to be any indication from Kotonoha that they are quitting, they just seem a little slow sometimes and put RL ahead of scanlating. However for Historie they are only working from the tankobon scans as apparently the magazine scans have less detailed/rougher background art (see their forums for an example: http://kotonoha.monkey-pirate.com/forum/index.php?topic=45.60) and as the next volume (volume 5) isn’t out yet they cant release any more chapters at the moment.
But yeah thanks for recommending this Ebi, even in its incomplete state, with the volumes linked (and currently released), the story comes full circle with its flashback arc and so has some closure while leaving you wanting more, especially with such an interesting character as Eumenes. Though considering the source material this story is based on (what is know of the actual life of Eumenes) this could be a very long manga indeed.

Kotonoha is not quitting this project, they only scanlate from volumes, they said next volume will be out later this summer, and that is when they will do it.
Yeah I enjoy this manga very much, and don’t think that volume 4 left off too badly. Still can’t wait for more though! ^^

I didn’t want to be thought of as one of those nagging idiots complaining about everything so I’ll clarify what I mean’t
I didn’t mean quitting Historie.
I mean’t quitting scanlating altogether.
At the end of this year or something.
They said something about it at their site. Or did I completely missunderstand?

Don’t worry you weren’t perfect :P They might be quitting, but I haven’t heard anything to say thats final or not. For now I’d assume they’ll be around for awhile. Kotonoha is a one of a kind group and will be missed if they do stop scanlating!
