Must read Akira again. Easily top 10 of the best mangas ever.

i know that repeatedly updating the same post can make it hard to know when things are added. i wonder if we can have a “last updated:” thing on the main page per post…. or a cookie thing that tells you its been updated since last time you visited. i will look into it

Thanks for Akira Club, I’ll look into it. Akira is a masterpiece, although I don’t like Otomos character-design that much, maybe its only because its already more than 20 years old. But still, great story, only a few series are on an equal level with it.
It really would be good, if new parts of the post are colored or if a cookie says whats new.
Another question: Did you give up on posting animes? I mean, it would be far to much work to gather all 20 episodes of an anime and upload them somewhere, I don’t ask for that. But if you know some great or just cool ones, you could name them ;) (I trust in your good taste)

otomo’s character design was certainly different, but better than the common “big eyes” style. i prefer more realistic drawing style anyway…
if you’r an akira fan you will very much like the akira club book
i just wish he had done more work, akira the anime was so ahead of its time and is one of my favorite films animated or not.
yes i agree! i unfortunately cannot do anything about it, i’m just a new author on this site and have no webmaster experience. so it will have to wait until silverado comes back (soon i think)
a simpler work around would be if we just add a comment every time we update a post….. if you subscribe to our rss feeds, it will notify you when new comments/pages are added. (i reccomend firefox with rss ticker plugin for this)
was thinking about the anime thing earlier. dunno why we no longer update with anime.
im not a big anime follower though, as i find most are badly done, or pure money making schemes -BUT- if you need a fix: i have watched recently the series “Darker than Black” and the new bleach movie…
if people want to suggest anime titles that are GOOD, feel free!

In a german forum I stumbled upon “Domu: A Child’s Dream” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domu:_A_Child%27s_Dream). It’s by Otomo, his work before he began Akira. I have not yet read it myself but maybe you want to look at it.
Anime: Well I don’t know every Ghibli movie but imo some of them are in the pole position (among other, non-Ghibli-movies of course). I.e. Nausicaa, Laputa, Mononoke. Then of course the Akira motion picture. Some of the Lupin III Movies are great too. Just cool animated but a rather plain story is Afro Samurai. Well, um yeah but especially the ongoing shonen are poorly animated (although the quality got better over the past couple of years).
Let’s see, errr… GitS? I’ve only seen the first movie but i liked it. I personally like it hand drawn, not this quickly-made CGI crap all over today, it feels not true^^
