spqr
This is a historical seinen set in the Italian Renaissance, lots of text, great deal of insight into the time, social structures back then and a humanistic academy, great art. A hard read but worth it, imo.

Traumeister (by Endless Youth and Co.)
As always, funny, not THAT a great manga, a shounen. If you care, Traummeister is german and means “master of dreams”. But like in the most cases, the foreign names have nothing to do with the story xD (catchword: Bleach- Espada)

  1. Mike Says:

At one point MU used to have a brief summary of everything posted. It explained who authored and sketched the manga, a bit about the storyline, why the poster liked it and suggested who should be reading it. I miss those posts. Now I have only a single page of artwork to judge new manga by when earlier I was able to find many series that I really enjoyed because the descriptions intrigued me. I feel that posters have grown lazy as of late when they merely notify the community with a list of new releases, sometimes without even reading the manga. I begin to ask, is this manga even worth my time if the poster did not feel strongly enough about it to write out a recommendation?

  2. mono Says:

mike, most of our posted stuff is new releases of ongoing manga, we dont bother writing about ongoing series as it is assumed everyone knows them already.
i see what you mean, and you’r right, sometimes we are lazy. but i will try write more about stuff thats relevant.

however we dont post things we have absolutely no interest in. so you could say that us merely posting it is reccomendation enough.
and if i dont have anything to say about it, i would normally put a mangaupdates link like for ordinary+- above. which gives a full summary and reviews anyway.

also we’r trying to get readers to talk about mangas in the comments rather than us dictating to you what to read

  3. silverado Says:

You got it wrong. All mangas posted here have been

    1. read by our authors
    2. personally selected and recommended by the poster.

    MU IS a recommendation site.
Since new authors joined the site you can savely assume that the variation of taste and genres has widened. Which is actually a good sign. I mainly read historical, political or plain series which are simply put god-damn-awesome. So my recommmendations are always highly appealing to students who are interested in those fields. But on the other hand I may miss many good series because my radar hasn’t picked them up.

  4. mono Says:

    :) hi silv

  5. CGorhant Says:

    Hi silverado ;)

@Mike: first, thanks for the feedback, thats always good. I admit that the mangaupdates-link not always gives the super-summary. But I think everyone chooses a cool looking teaser-pic which represents the manga/ the chapter. So you can decide: do I like this kind of artwork or not, do I like the setting, the way the characters look like or even: is the scangroup promising. Is it by sleepy fans or by MU or Illuminati-Manga.
And like mono said, please share your opinion on the posted mangas, we’d love to discuss them, there are even different opinions between us posters about some series. Besides there’s nothing that keeps us adding more stuff than a growing comment-count ;)

  6. crazyankan Says:

Not so many extremely good seinen series are being scanlated.
So we must fill it up with average/good seinen mangas also.
or else this blog will be updated monthly :/

  7. zack Says:

So out of curiosity how many authors does this site have?

  8. Zael Says:

    Greetings to Silverado!
zack: A better question would be, how many _active_ authors does MU have. =)
*personally quite happy about the update rate*

  9. crazyankan Says:

    zack:
    CGorhant
    Mono
    Crazyankan

  10. mono Says:

we could do with more staff on both the blog side AND the scanlations too if anyone’s interested! :P

  11. zack Says:

Yeah I thought it was only 3 :P
since you only have 3 authors and if they would only upload stuff they recommend, this site wouldn’t be updated quite as often as it is now I would thought. :P

  12. mono Says:

we DO only upload stuff we like/reccomend! honest! lol
i wouldnt have the motivation to collect and reupload stuff i didnt like!

so heres what im thinking for soon:
Blade of the Immortal upload (the whole thing)
Rurouni Kenshin. i loved reading this, but it MIGHT be a little too shouneny for us… thoughts?
    some other stuff :S

  13. zack Says:

Hey, I’m not saying you don’t. I’m just saying.. :p

  14. mono Says:

haha no worries – i didnt raelly understand your last comment! :S

  15. zack Says:

I would love for a Blade of Immortal upload becuse I still haven’t read it, heard much good about it. Kenshin, doesn’t everyone know that one by now? :p

On a sidenote though, you say kenshin is too “shouneny”
does this site have Seinen as main focus? I would’t say no to see more variation of genre uploads tbh. :)

  16. mono Says:

well i well set it upping later then.. it def needs doing as most other similar seinen/samurai/martial arts stuff we have featured long ago…

i meant that kenshin is prob a bit cheesey for us!:P though it is good.

there is no rule, i just suppose the focus is whatever the authors like, which historically has been seinen-type stuff… thats what got me here in the first place all those years ago ^_^

i would like some variation too. but noone seems to want to join up!
keep saying we need more authors who like different stuffs!

  17. CGorhant Says:

    Added more Gambling Emperor

Well I do upload stuff that I don’t read. First, if I e.g. see a new Aiki, BotI or Tough chapter and nobody else did it yet, I’d upload it.

And then there are some other series that where posted here before, but none of us authors read them (like UDDUP) ;P (but at least they where recommended once). Everey now and then I try to collect a pack of the latest few chapters and post it. Personal liking is one thing but I thought to myself, we also have a community to feed. If some are used to get their latest UDDUP here, why lose them; maybe some day they pick up a great and recommended manga ;)

@Kenshin: It was a nice read when I was younger. I don’t know if its worth the work, though, like zack said everyone should have it already^^

@staff: yeah, we have a register-button now, but no one used it…

  18. mono Says:

yeah sorry i meant i upload stuff “we” read ;)
there’s a semi-set list of series we follow. if everyone loses interest then it wll probably stop being posted. and when new stuff arises, we jump on them too! haha.

struggled for a good pic for gamblin emperor…

  19. CGorhant Says:

… me too. No offense but the art is nothing that can be put up without a little *uh!* ^^

You are right with the rest ;)

edit: Ho, while searching for “Cesare” (will add that later), I found this post: http://www.mydailymanga.com/2007/06/29/a-week-wrap-up-post/ it has some nice looking things in it.
I checked upon Azamaru, its was completed with 4 volumes in the meantime. Does anyone know it? Otherwise I’ll check it and upload it later, maybe.

  20. Mr Phil Says:

    See you

    Phil

  21. mono Says:

CG – nice finds with Cesare & Azamaru lookin forward to reading the latter

    Phil – thanks!

i got another series to whack on soon too with a few releases, and a new series im just checking out now…
    take it easy!

  22. Mr Phil Says:

    Hi Silv,

It’s good to have you back.
    I hope you are fine.

As you see, your beloved project where taken care of… during your time off.

    And here another manga
    ALIVE, last évolution

    15 volumes RAW
    http://mangahelpers.com/m/alive/raws/

    And 12 volumes in English.
    http://www.onemanga.com/Alive_-_The_Final_Evolution/

Right now, Japan is expecting vol 17…

For me, the first cycle is better than the second one.
    >>> the mystery surrounding what is happening is adding a lot of value to a very classical plot (human with powers… like x-men, etc…)
But hey, it’s worth the try.

    All the best

    Phil

  23. Zael Says:

IMHO Kenshin’d fit just fine within MU’s manga..

As to the UDDUP, are you guys seriously not reading it??? It’s quite interesting, espesially for everyone that liked Zatoichi. :D
