@js&Planetes: Yes the ending was good, even though it is not the manga-ending. Personally I didn’t like Tanabe at first in the anime, she was downsized to one phrase, “Ai desu”, but later she became quite a character. Good story-turn on the moon e.g.
Some of the earlier episodes are really annoying, like with the Ninja’s, but it was good that they where mentioned again later (in the big accident). So it wasn’t completely pointless.

@Cowboy Bebop: Yes, thats the anime for president!^^ Its just great, nearly every single episode. Hard scifi, drama, love, fights with fists, swords and guns, zero gravity action, just an awesome piece.
There is an episode 27 somewhere, or labeled as 7.5 or something, it explains the world of CB a bit more.

I’m not that a big fan of “Dark Knight” but all in all the comic adaptions ar getting better and more serious, lets hope they don’t mess the animes up, because an adaption is inevitable anyway.

@mono&Akira: Yep, set in NY, but I didn’t hear of di Caprio playing Kaneda. I think he is just the producer. Anyway, di Caprio is a good actor, don’t judge him by Titanic ;) He’s way better than the blockbuster-dudes with their quickly earned money.
@Monster: Well, its genre is thriller. If you like to eat your fingernails and can’t wait to read the next chapter, you should try Monster or 20th century Boys (21st Century Boys = sequel). especially with faces and the expressions of fear and or horror or joy, Urazawa is a genius. But it takes a while, he usually developes his characters quite a bit and tends to introduce new characters sometimes when you want the main arc to go on ;)

liked Planetes manga a lot

don’t usually watch anime but I checked it out just to see

not as good, I’d say 3-4 episodes are worth watching. they ended it well though

ahhhhhh nice work CG, great post :)

im not usually into anime, but i might check out Monster, if i have time. i haven’t read the manga yet, or 20th century boys actually. maybe letting myself down there on my manga knowledge.
Love akira, if anyone wants the manga, search on here.
maybe we should post the other classic – Ninja Scroll too?!

agree with John, the Akira live action is worrying… i heard it’s set in new york, and Leo is Kaneda…. wtf!? although i shouldnt be negative, i bet it’s terrible :P
the bike will be a harley or some sort of stupid batman style bike..
my view is: if you arent going to do the original justice, then dont bother trying! this applies to music too ;)

Already watched them all though except for 20th century boys.

Have this little bit uneasy feeling with anime/manga turned into live-action.
But it’s just me.
