the original apocalyptic, cyberpunk-martial-arts classic franchise –
Hokuto No Ken (Fist of the North Star), debuted in 1983, many readers will probably recognise this from the OVA/animes when we were young ;) this manga influenced a lot that came after it. although it’s pretty brainless and predictable, its reasonably entertaining, especially to warm you up to the world in which it takes place…. so you can follow on to the rest!:
in 2001 there began a new manga prequel – Souten no Ken (Fist of the Blue Sky)… which stars Kenshiro’s master (Ryuken)’s brother :S and is set in the 1920’s… i jumped out my seat when i discovered this manga.
also there are a few other spin off series following Kenshiro’s adoptive brothers and expanding the story a little more at different points in the timeline…
i know there’s loads of stuff here, but dont worry. you can pretty much just read ‘Blue Sky without knowing about ‘North Star.. maybe the gaidens would be confusing though…
i reckon you’ll enjoy these if you like our other featured martial arts stuff like Tough, Aiki, Veritas and the most-similar to these – Riki-Oh. Riki Oh is like a slightly comedy version of Hokuto..
Hokuto no Gun Scans have asked i make sure that everyone knows about their sites, they have done a really uber-great job with everything on the Hokuto/Souten/Shinken scene – anime-wise too.

k so i hope people like this, it took me ages to sort it all out…
just wanna say aswell that we seem to be getting better and better at the moment.
the new authors, plus cg and crazy are doing a great job of throwing new stuff up all the time and keeping things moving.
i’m happy the quiet period has passed and this site is firing all guns again now :)
its coming up to my one-year MU anniversary next month….

Nice compilation and thanks for the plug ;) Just one correction though, mangaupdates has actually made a mistake calling us SOUTEN SCANS for both our Souten no Ken (Fist of the Blue Sky), and new Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) Gaiden releases. We are SOUTEN SCANS for our Fist of the Blue Sky releases and HOKUTO NO GUN SCANS for our Fist of the North Star Releases. I know his is confusing, but the reason we have two different team names is because Souten Scans started independently at a Fist of the Northstar forum known as HeartofMadness, whereas Hokuto no Gun Scans started within the actual HnG team. Now, Souten Scans is a part of HnG, but I went for the name change after I discovered that there’s another group called Souten Scans. Hope that makes sense ;)

Wow, that’s an epic post you did! Thanks for sorting all of that out for us – and of cause enormous thanks for the people who have scanlated all of this! I never really could warm up to the movies, but maybe now I can enjoy the manga! Thank y’all a lot!
