no No. 5!? D:
November 27th, 2009 at 3:02 AM
No. 5 is awful anyway. This is the one author I can’t decide if I like or not.
November 27th, 2009 at 3:06 AM
Revilenigma: Couldn’t find it :/
November 27th, 2009 at 7:21 AM
I’m not particularly a fan of Taiyo Matsumoto’s art-style but I enjoyed Black White a lot, so I might read his other works.
I’ll probably start reading Blue Spring, the plot seems fairly interesting…

number 5 been posted before Rev on your first tank rush here..
here it is for people if they want it..:
http://www.mydailymanga.com/2009/08/16/tank-rush/
nice post Crazy
November 27th, 2009 at 11:23 AM
nice post,i still have not read most of this manga even if i planned to.
btw i uploaded the first 4 manga a few months ago too so you did not have to go through all the trouble of re-uploading them, crazy.
November 27th, 2009 at 12:25 PM
i have tried all of them before. though i appreciate the uniqueness of most of his titles, i never actually enjoyed many of them that much.
actually all (except one) of these have been posted before :P but not on a Matsumoto themed post… we have been talking about him recently anyway so its a fair post.
November 27th, 2009 at 12:41 PM
Oooh, some new series here. There was a torrent out that had a lot of these but it seems a few series got left out. And despite anyone’s feelings about No. 5, a collection of Matsumoto sensei’s work isn’t complete without it. Thanks for giving him the spotlight again, this stuff is a breath of fresh air and inspiration in a medium saturated with stale conventions.
November 27th, 2009 at 1:24 PM
This is probably one of the few others whose art i hate, i can’t really say the same thing about the stories, not the best out there, Taiyo Matsumoto is still a decent mangaka, tx for the release, wasn’t aware of all the one you posted Crazy.
November 27th, 2009 at 1:29 PM
Oh, come on, people! Grow up a little, will’ya.
Taiyo Matsumoto manga certainly is nothing to just skim through – you really have to get into it for a while, and then you can start to dig the quality – it’s unbeliveably deep and multi-layered.
Of cause it takes a nerve to get oneself into it, but it’s totally worth it. Otherwise there’s still Gantz…for gore and boobs, and boobs, boobs…and gore…and…
November 27th, 2009 at 1:32 PM
Hox recently translated a oneshot volume of Matsumoto’s work. Enjoy!
Brothers of Japan

brothers of japan is alraedy on this post…….. :P
November 27th, 2009 at 2:31 PM
After reading volume 3 and looking at volume 4 there’s a reason why most critics consider No. 5 Taiyo’s best work.
I was going to add mono’s links for No. 5 but they seem to be dead now DX
November 27th, 2009 at 2:57 PM
WHAT!? MY LINKS ARE DEAD?!
how dare they!
i can find em later if needs be
November 27th, 2009 at 3:06 PM
added ch9
I hope to finish volume 3 somewhere in december btw. Hope work doesn’t keep slowing me down.
November 27th, 2009 at 6:09 PM
Great collection, thanks for the work!
Some things I haven’t read or even known yet
@Revil: Looking forward for more Number 5 :)
November 27th, 2009 at 8:49 PM
No.5, awful? His stories decent? I don’t really know what anyone considers a good manga around here but in my opinion, he’s one of the most talented mangaka out there because he actually knows how to work symbolism and good imagery to develop his story’s themes and characters.
And if anything, I’d consider Brothers of Japan as his weakest work, partly because his oneshots didn’t have a strong focus unlike Blue Spring, and some were just a little too abstract.

November 27th, 2009 at 10:30 PM

November 27th, 2009 at 11:01 PM
next theme, Jiro Matsumoto. Any objections? :)
November 28th, 2009 at 12:18 AM
Wait with Jiro till january…
November 28th, 2009 at 2:32 AM
Morten: was there maybe a hint for some new freesia chapters? ;)
November 28th, 2009 at 6:35 AM
@Crazyankan:
“next theme, Jiro Matsumoto. Any objections? :)”
Hell yeah! You have my support, that’d be more than welcome and I don’t mind waiting till January :D
He’s actually one of my favourite mangakas alongside Asano Inio.
By the way, and please forgive my ignorance, but has anyone from MU ever done a “special” about the works of both Takahashi Tsutomu and Tsutomo Nihei?
November 28th, 2009 at 9:24 AM
thanks Revil for that chapter .
a Jiro Matsumoto post should be nice crazy, no objections here :)
DamnedBones : i don’t think there’s a special post only with Takahashi Tsutomu’s manga, but probably all of his scanlated manga can be found around here .
November 28th, 2009 at 11:23 AM
@Hox: what i meant by decent is that his art combined with his writing style gives me a surreal impression, and i for one am a little uptight in that department, not that i don’t appreciate his work, just not my usual cup of tea, i beaing more of a Sanctuary/Strain/Emma kinda guy.
P.S. First person to comment on Blame, Hellsing and Blue Heaven is dead!
November 28th, 2009 at 11:52 AM
I think i will do a Tsutomo Nihei themed post soon …
November 28th, 2009 at 1:21 PM
didnt we do a nihei one before?
crazy- let me know if you want help uploading jiro stuff, ive got a lot of it already
November 28th, 2009 at 1:48 PM
i am re-upping number 5 vols 1&2 now
November 28th, 2009 at 1:59 PM
nooope,no Nihei themed post,or at least i did not find it,some of his manga here and there, some dead links, some still working,so it should be nice to have all of his manga in one post,he has many fans :D
for some reason i thought more of Jiro Matsumoto were uploaded here(not that he has that many available in english),but it seems i was wrong.
November 28th, 2009 at 2:26 PM
added the number 5 volumes…
hmmm. thought CG did it, he loves Nihei.
i thought i posted some of matsumoto jiro’s stuff before… maybe i imagined it then!EDIT: I posted Revolutionist in the Afternoon and all of Freesia on these posts:
http://www.mydailymanga.com/2008/09/21/the-monday-updates/
http://www.mydailymanga.com/2008/12/21/the-last-wkend-before-christmas/
all the links are still living too :P
crazy – this should help you out a lot :P
November 28th, 2009 at 3:34 PM
@Archer: Bakabt has quite a big Nihei torrent, so it might help to refer to that in your collection of Nihei for a post.
November 29th, 2009 at 3:39 AM
@AlucardNoir:
“P.S. First person to comment on Blame, Hellsing and Blue Heaven is dead!”
What do you mean? Do you hate any of those mangas by any chance? ;)
PS: Why did you mention Hellsing anyway?
November 29th, 2009 at 7:38 AM
@Alucard Noir
Hmm, I see. As for me, I personally have a little bias towards more realistic artstyles found in manga by Taniguchi Jiro, Ikegami Ryoichi, or even Urasawa Naoki. Drawing things “realistically” makes things seem a little mundane for me, it makes it hard for me to quite grasp the author’s creativity (if he has one) from each page. Of course there are exceptions, like in Berserk and Steel Ball Run, but that’s only because the mundaneness of realism is offset by the fantastical elements of their respective universes. This is why I love the art in manga like Takemitsu Zamurai, Legend of the Strongest Man Kurosawa, or Bakune Young but I’m less keen on the art in Glaucos or Dragon Head. Well, that’s enough from me.
November 29th, 2009 at 5:53 PM
cos Alucard loves Hellsing!
he told me off before for slagging it off! :)
December 3rd, 2009 at 5:54 AM
HOLY I love you guys for compiling this!
I’m a huge fan of him, starting from Black&White to Ping Pong Club. Thanks you so much, I haven’t read some of these too :)
December 4th, 2009 at 12:24 AM
clazkiwi: Hi there Clazkiwi :)
Glad that you liked it! :D
December 10th, 2009 at 7:21 AM
This is great! I bought alot of these in japanese, but because of his unique writing style, they were really hard to read. Glad to see some translations online.
@Hox
Bakune Young is the best! And Ryuguden too. Is there a Toyokazu Matsunaga thread yet?
December 10th, 2009 at 9:02 AM
@Futomimi
Well there’s not much to do about Toyokazu though. Only 2 of his works, Ryuguden and Bakune Young, are available online. Moreover, other than those two, there’s only Angel Mark. It’s a shame he isn’t a more prolific mangaka. Both him and Kato Shinkichi. I wish they drew more manga…
