Featured, Manga, Manga Uploads

When in doubt of what to share first, go back to the fundamentals.

I’d like to give a shoutout to 2 principal people/groups. Miura and co. is up first of course, for pouring 20 years into this manga. And as it stands Berserk is heads and shoulders above every other seinen series known to exist, everything considered. And Hawks, for scanlating 30 volumes of it. Thanks, you guys fought a good fight and did it all for passion in a place and during a time that had nothing to offer you.

On to the pack: What separates these volumes from the many that came before is they’re “clean.” I’ve gone inside the early volumes and organized all the pages in their proper order, got rid of the folder inside the zip, got rid of the thumbs.db, etc. etc. , because I, just like you, want to read the thing straight through without a lot of hassle. It’s what good scanlation groups do by default and average ones learn on the way up. Enjoy, cus every time is like the 1st time when it’s Berserk.

Whoa, great post indeed! The seemingly forever lost chapter 83, and I didn’t even know about the Prototype. I could attempt to translate the german artbook but ugh it is so much..:/
Also checking out the new GWR-mango now.

  12. Archer Says:

Welcome aboard! glad to see some fresh blood around here. very nice 1st post, I did not know about this hq version of berserk(mostly because it’s been years since I read this manga and currently it’s on hold), but anyway, thanks, I do intend to reread them.

  13. chaos Says:

thanks for all the awesome berserk stuff, I been looking to replace my crappy scan for sometime now and here’s hoping that Miura will get off his ass and get back to work :D

  14. Anon Says:

Heh, i pretty much have everything Berserk related i could have. I bought every available Dark Horse volume so far so i’m one short of the entire collection, i bought the special 20th anniversary edition with the poster, small encyclopedia book and the special 34th volume cover.

Lately though, i have the tendency of downloading even the series i actually bought so this is perfect. Nice compilation of everything a Berserk could want and need.

Also, thanks for showing appreciation to Hawk scanlations, the guys who jump started the Berserk craze online, those guys are responsible for a pretty good chunk of its fans but most of the time, those fans just dismiss it and call it a waste of time because of the inaccurate translations of names and terminology and some dialogue. Always good to see some appreciation where appreciation is due.

  15. Archer Says:

Added the new Vinland Saga chapter, it’s focused entirely on Canute. Excellent chapter.

  16. XYZ Says:

    3 more volumes to go

  17. XYZ Says:

Aight I’m gonna go all the way to v36 with EVIL GENIUS’s stuff too.

  18. Anon Says:

    Hell yeah.

  19. crazyankan Says:

    XYZ: Welcome to MU :)
Will add an battle angel alita chapter later today.

  20. XYZ Says:

    Okay that’s about everything.

    v24 is my favorite :)

Anyone want v31-35 RAW? There’s no HQ release after Hawks left the scene so I thought I might share those.

  21. phil1403 Says:

    Hi XYZ,

    That’s a great start…

As an old (no longer active member of MU), and a fan of Berserk, you are very welcome in the MU team…

  22. daberserkman Says:

Damn, cdisplay can’t handle those .tif files of the ultra-HQ-volumes, or am I doing something wrong…? What are you guys using?

  23. XYZ Says:

    Hey Phil :)

    Have a Dragon Slayer.

    ︻█████████████████████◤

    Added v31-35 raw for superfans.

Okay time for a lil break and then something different.

  24. XYZ Says:

    @daberserkman

Use ACDSee 5, old but not bloatware. That’s what I use.

  25. ryu999 Says:

Is there any possibility to have mirrors for berserk? Fileserv is really bad for me :/ Mediafire was the best, or even megaupload.

anyway, great post, I’ve been searching HQ of berserk and know I have everything in one place, good job.

  26. ABC Says:

Thank you for the HQ Berserk manga, but I’ll wait for an alternative to Fileserve.

  27. mono Says:

dont hold your breath for re-ups kids ;)

  28. xdcc Says:

is there any chance of a re-upload to anyhting but mega-upload? Fileserve doesnt work for my country, Thanks.

  29. XYZ Says:

That was a 4.5G lumpsum up, not easy on a home line. Use a proxy.

I’ll try to do a mirror on bitshare from now on, I hope they aren’t blocked in your countries.

  30. xdcc Says:

thanks alot and appreciate what your doing

  31. Archer Says:

I finally managed to catch up with this manga during the past few days, I was waaaaay behind, almost 2 arcs behind, now I read till chapter 307, the end of the 3rd arc, but I don’t plan to start the Fantasia arc anytime soon, I’ll probably wait until Miura finishes this arc. Bottom line, the 1st arc was brilliant (Golden Age Arc), unfortunately the next 2 were nowhere near as good but pretty much just as entertaining, once I started reading Berserk it was hard to stop. Also, I really looked forward to the Griffith chapters, in arcs 2 and 3, yet in the end I was disappointed, he is nowhere near the complex character that he was in the 1st arc, he is not just untouchable to Guts but also to the readers, at least I am happy that while he is the guy Guts hates and wants to kill, Griffith does not act (at least not yet) like a villain. Another problem I had with the 3rd arc was the introduction of magic, I would have liked Miura to put a lot more thought into the magic in his universe, the laws of magic here are very vague, this is the type of magic powers that I expect to find in a weekly shounen not an epic fantasy. Also lets face, after the infamous end of the 1st arc were we ever as shocked with Berserk? Were there any other moments that really had a huge impact on the reader? any great twists? And the last problem I had with Berserk is the that the plot is moving sooo slow. Oh well, even with this faults(I did not mention most of the good things about this manga because those have already been mentioned a lot of times around here and on mangaupdates and so on), Berserk is by far the best fantasy manga out there and it would still get a very high rating from me, about a 9 out of 10.

Now I think I will catch up with another manga I am waaaay behind, Blade of the Immortal.

  32. XYZ Says:

Golden Age wasn’t gonna last forever. It was good, but it had to end to catch up to the 1st chapter at some point. I enjoyed the other arcs also.

As for magic, I don’t see how it’s like weekly shounen. Miura established that it’s dangerous, it’s channeling power that’s always been there and not from god knows where, that magic isn’t fireball, iceball, heatball, waterball, whatever… But I can sympathize with the fact that the use of magic has given Miura the license to go behind just inhuman swordkiling, further into the realm of fantasy – as hinted by the skulknight. I suspect politics and “twist” will make a bit of comeback once they make it to Elfhelm. Or have they already???

Anyway can’t really blame Miura for that one. In anything with humans and nonhumans, AvP, StarCraft, the most interesting’s gonna be the humans cus humans are multifaceted. Aliens are more or less singularly-minded. I’ve heard of these complaints a lot, Hawks stopped scanning Berserk cus of some of the same reasons. But the story has to move forward into inhuman territories if Gutts wants to get his revenge. That can’t be helped.

And I suspect Miura’s also taking longer and longer research time cus the story’s gotten harder and harder to tell past the golden age.

  33. Archer Says:

Well, I was not complaining that Golden Age ended, I was sad that what followed was not as good as the 1st arc, storywise, because as I said, I found arcs 2 and 3 just as entertaining as the 1st arc. And as you said yourself, have they reached Elfhelm yet? the story sure is moving incredibly slow, pretty much going nowhere.

As for Miura working hard on research for Berserk…I don’t know, I think you think too highly of him :p he is probably enjoying one of his many hobbies, he is kinda like the G.R.R. Martin of the manga industry.

Anyway, I am still curious to see how Miura will handle Skull Knight’s back-story, that character is full of potential, I hope it won’t be wasted.

  34. XYZ Says:

Can’t say for sure. But GRR Martin’s never worked on one project for 20 years, I think Miura does hobbies when he does hobbies, but takes it seriously when he’s working.

Golden Age was good, so was the end of the Golden Age, and the arcs that followed. I feel they’ve been putting out strong, consistently high quality art and story since the v1 up to maybe v30. The fight at the dock was what pushed it over the edge for me, and probably Hawks. Sword vs monsters, awesome. Magic vs monsters, terrific. When it became magic vs magic, the flame sword vs the water snake, that crossed a line.

It’s still pretty good, it’s just too far removed from what people are custom to in their daily lives, the eating, the sleeping, the fighting for keeps, etc. Berserk was at its best when it tackled things people have an emotional gravity toward, both the low and high level concerns.
