Christmas is over but still, Happy Holidays everyone and A Happy New Year!
I may not have read that much manga during 2011 but I made up for that during the last month of this year, during the last few weeks I finally managed to read many titles that were finished this year and that I did not have the time to read them as soon as they were released .
As for the manga that were released during the holidays…I don’t think it was just me who had high expectations during this period, unfortunately we did not get that many releases worth mentioning, oh well, we gotta be happy with what we got and there are a few other manga that were finished in december and late november and were not yet posted here, so you guys will probably have what to read during these last few days of 2011.
Also, I know everyone loves a top favorites of the year but right now I can’t think of any anime and manga titles that really impressed me this year, anyway, everyone is more than welcome to list their favorites, opinions on the closing year, to give it a push I will list my favorite movies released this year and the best books I read in 2011, I still have to think about manga and anime :)
Best Books read in 2011: The Hammer by K.J. Parker, To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis, The Book of Sand by Jorge Luis Borges, The Tenant by Roland Topor.
Best Movies released in 2011: Midnight in Paris, The Guard, X-Men: First Class.
Worst: The Priest, Season of the Witch.
Best tv series(anime excluded): Community, The League, American Horror Story.

I only posted this one because way back the 1st few chapters were uploaded here and maybe there are those of you who are still interested to see how it ends, but overall I don’t recommend this one, I liked the art but everything else is quite bad, some complained that the ending felt rushed yet for me this whole manga was more like a 3 volume recap of a much much larger manga.

Merry late x-mas as well, and a happy new year guys!
Thanks for the post, I missed most of those :)
Best mangas 2011: Thermae Romae, Shingeki no Kyojin, …?, RRR
Best books (I discovered 2011): Romulus the Great by F. Dürrenmatt; Blood Meridian by C. McCarthy; End of a Mission by H. Böll
Best music 2011: Buraka som sistema – Komba
I’ve read as much as last year but I grew more tired in the end and dropped a lot. I feel that you start too many new series out of boredom while waiting for the good ones to get new releases. Sometimes you have to clean up this mess and decide what’s really worth your precious time. Life is short! :) “2012″ sounds like a science fiction-novel! And I mean the mere “number”, no reference to all the maya-stuff. “Escape from New York” was set in 1997! :-D

lol I actually forgot about Shingeki no Kyojin! yeah, that has to be my favorite manga of 2011.
btw Thermae Romae is getting a 3 episode anime adaptation, all 3 will be released in January 2012.

No love for Game of Thrones? I have to agree Shingeki no Kyojin was the best of 2011. it’s probably one of the best to come out in a couple of years

Thanks, fellas!
I wish the best for all of you, your limbs & extremities, in the coming year. Do try to keep all of them.
I will never stop coming to this site…

Ohhh.. best Manga of 2011?
Who could pick just one?
That would be racist. Manga-racist.
I enjoy anything that isn’t heavily-YAOI, and appears on this website.

lol Manga-racist! I like that xD
@Viceroy_Fizzlebottom: I only watched the 1st few episodes of GoT, I felt like I was too familiar with the story at that moment so I preferred to leave the tv series for a latter time, still, great adaptation from what I saw.

Thanks for the new collection. Shame it looks like StubborOne’s blogspot acc, and thus his whole blog was deleted. :(

Pirating 7 billion needles on anyone’s part is a dick move. Before Vertical no one gave a shit about the title and since piracy does hurt sales to some extent, it might reduce or kill the chances of Vertical picking up more from the same author/genre.
I kinda like this site and the selection of titles and I think there’s enough of em out there unlicensed that we can read/download. But that’s just my two cents.

Awesome uploads! If it werent for the bad reputation of online readers i might have created our own online reader for the readers to directly read the manga.
January 17th, 2012 at 3:31 PM
Hideout’s pretty cool :)
I think download’s still the way to go, although online reader’s good for certain things like discovering new series.

Considering the recent problems between scanlation groups and some online readers that is definitely the best choice, Silv. Sure hope groups I like won’t decide to close down because of this online readers business.
